| | | Dermal flares - common concerns Do dermal flares return ? In patients where the flares are associated with underlying venous disease, if the underlying venous disease is sorted out and you then receive treatment for your dermal flares the chances of the flares recurring is extremely low. If there is no underlying venous disease and we treat your flares then over a period of years further flares will appear. It may be necessary for you to undergo a further session of injections at some stage in the future. The frequency is extremely variable, and again related to the severity of your flares. It is possible to repeat the treatments as often as necessary to achieve a very good result. Will all the flares disappear ? It is possible to remove all the flares, but this may involve going on with repeated sessions. We usually end the treatment when the patient is entirely satisfied. Is the treatment always successful ? The treatment is highly successful, and in the majority of patients an excellent result is achieved. There are some patients on we can produce a very good improvement, but never achieve a perfect result, and very occasionally there are some patients who do fail to get a good improvement. The majority of patients, however, are very satisfied with the results. Is the treatment safe ? We have now treated in excess of ten thousand patients without a problem. It is possible to get a blister at the site of injection, but this usually clears without any further problems. The treatment is not associated with any long term or permanent staining.Who does the treatment ? The treatments are all carried out by properly trained nurses. The nurses have been trained by us and their training programme lasts for one year. They are supervised by experienced medical practitioners who are ultimately responsible for the treatment. | Private consultations:The Lister Hospital Chelsea Bridge Road London SW1W 8RH Tel: +44 (0)20 7730 9563 Fax: +44 (0)20 7259 9938 e-mail: jscurr@uk-consultants.co.uk |
